Embassy of Nepal Observes International Meditation Day in Beijing

Beijing - The Embassy of Nepal in Beijing organized a special programme titled “Practicing Meditation: Connecting Soul and Body” to mark International Meditation Day, observed on 21 December following its declaration by the United Nations General Assembly in 2024.

The programme aimed to promote meditation and yoga culture and highlight Nepal’s potential as a destination for spiritual and wellness tourism in China.

Welcoming the participants, Ms. Roshan Khanal, Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy, underlined the role of meditation and yoga in enhancing physical and mental health. She emphasized that Nepal’s traditional yoga and meditation practices, combined with modern wellness approaches, have strengthened the country’s appeal as a spiritual tourism destination.

Parbati Aryal, Economic Minister of the Embassy, delivered a presentation titled “Spiritual Connection to Nepal: Mansarovar to Lumbini,” focusing on Nepal’s spiritual heritage and the growing prospects of wellness tourism.

The Embassy also announced the organization of Nepali Cultural Week in early January in Beijing.

Participants took part in yoga, meditation, and singing bowl therapy sessions conducted by Mr. Ramesh Sitaula, also known as Amar Guru, fostering mindfulness and overall wellbeing.

The event highlighted the revival of centuries-old spiritual ties between Nepal and China, nurtured through the exchange of monks, Buddhism, and meditational practices.

The programme was attended by around 70 participants, including representatives of Chuyuan International Media, Beijing Longxiaofei Culture and Company, invited guests, and embassy staff.
