Ltd. in partnership with the Embassy of Lithuania in India, New Delhi, and Nabil Bank as a Banking Partner has successfully conducted six batches of Financial Literacy Training programs for girls/women in Lahan, Janakpur & Bardibas city of Madhesh Province with the objective of promoting financial education and development of financial literacy knowledge and skills of women in Nepal. A press meet was conducted to announce the completion of the program amid the presence of delegates from the Embassy of Lithuania, the European Union, representatives from Nabil Bank, and our media personalities.
Financial Literacy Training
for Women was a 3-hour training conducted for 200+ girls/women segregating them
into 6 batches, trained by experienced trainers in Financial Literacy. The
project focused to strengthen their financial literacy and implementation of
financial activities.
The
main goal of the Financial Literacy project was to make women financially
secure and give training regarding economic freedom, and financial literacy. The
program focused on training Girls/women of the Madhesh Province and guided them
the ways to become financially sustainable. Women presently face much more
financial complexities than the male of the community. This project therefore
not only showed them how to best manage their money but also provided them the
opportunity to connect with the banking personalities during the training to
build their own saving account and begin the habit of saving. This project targeted women for a financially secure future
so that they can contribute to more productivity and better quality of life,
making women more responsible for taking their own financial decisions.
After successfully
accomplishing 4 days of training, this was able to make a positive impact on how budgeting finance
can lead them to live a better quality of life for themselves and their
family. Through the training, an impact was created on women’s life by
educating them on how financial literacy changes spending habits, and investment
and differentiate between need and want. Women understood the value of having knowledge
of their household expenses.
A
pre-training survey was conducted to understand the level of understanding of
financial knowledge & decisions of Nepalese girls/women in Madhesh
Province. A very informative training curriculum was prepared, along with the
session notes & informative PowerPoint presentation. The booklet was also
distributed to all the women/girls who were part of the training at Madhesh
Province. During the workshop, a very interesting component of Bankers &
Participant Interaction was conducted. As Nabil Bank of Nepal was a banking
partner, the representatives from Nabil Bank opened the savings accounts of all
participants at the workshop. They also cleared the queries of participants
regarding various financial issues like savings, investments, loans, and so on.
Financial
literacy and women’s empowerment go hand in hand. Increasing women’s financial
literacy can help them achieve their life and career goals more effectively.
Financial independence serves as a cushion during unforeseen circumstances. So,
the training was able to develop the most important skills that would be
beneficial to their life. Glocal envisions conducting such kind of social welfare
activities in near future.
